Welcome to the subscribers-only page for the Sixth Edition of the GREENish Lifestyle Box.

In this section we’ll provide a little more detail on each of the products that you received in your box, as well as our own hot takes.

We’d love to hear what you think, too. Share your joy for the GREENish Lifestyle with us on Instagram at @greenishcanada, or reach out to us via email at adam@greenishcanada.com and sean@greenishcanada.com.

We appreciate your support. Thanks so much for supporting small and supporting local, as well as businesses that believe that things can be done just a little bit differently… because? Oh, you know…

We’re all in this together.

Your GREENish Referral Code:

Each of you got a unique GREENish referral code in your box this time… partly to say thanks, because we love you, and partly because we want to keep this thing growing and get more people on board! Feel free to share it with anyone, they just need to enter it at checkout when purchasing their subscription. The link to pass along is here: https://greenishcanada.com/greenish-lifestyle-box.

Each code is good for a $5 discount on the July box, and each time your code gets used, we’ll refund you $5 of your July box purchase! Any questions, just reach out anytime. If you lost your code, email Adam!

The Products:

We’ve sourced what we think is an awesome cross-section of products for you that each bring something unique in terms of helping to reduce waste, and demonstrating overall sustainability. Each company we’ve partnered with has an ethos that we’re into, and some awesome folks doing good things. We had a lot of fun with this one. In fact, we had so much fun that we were so excited about the products we found that we already have a couple in stock for the next GREENish Lifestyle Box!

Be YOU Shampoo Bar from Bottle None.

These shampoo bars, designed for all hair types, were recommended to us by Queen’s Shop, a salon in Sean's local neighbourhood, that works to ensure every aspect of their salon and the products they sell are as sustainable and ethical as possible. Queen's Shop focuses on zero waste and plant-based products that are good for your hair and your health

HOT TAKE: We’ve been getting into providing a few more items in the self-care world. Since we’re not necessarily hair experts, we wanted to get it right, so Sean reached out to Queen’s Shop because sustainability is always top of mind for them. We’ve been super happy with the Bottle None products so far and hope you enjoy them too.

Maple Sugar from 47 North

47 North produces 100% organic Canadian maple syrup and maple products (Certified by EcoCert) from a sustainably managed Appalachian hardwood forest in Southwestern New Brunswick. Locally owned and family operated, 47 North is committed to a goal of carbon neutral maple syrup production. It’s one of the most Canadian things you can find, and very cool to have sugar you can use for all kinds of things that was produced right here at home.

HOT TAKE: This is something we’ve been wanting to include for a while, and we thought that the end of maple syrup season would be the perfect time for it. It’s a bit of a different way to think about sustainability, but definitely an important one.

Drawstring Bag from Oh Beehive

These drawstring bags are handmade from organic cotton, and are a brand new product for Oh Beehive. The initial thought was that they’d be produce bags, but really, the sky’s kinda the limit. We think you can use them around the house or on the go, for just about anything.

HOT TAKE: We’ve included a number of products from Oh Beehive, located in Barrie, in the past few boxes. We love what Alison is doing and we’re proud to be working with her and helping with her new product releases as well. We’re not reinventing the wheel here, but this is a simple, practical, and beautiful item that we think you’ll use again and again.

Notebook from PaperSpree

We’ve been looking forward to this one for a while. These notebooks are made from fully recycled products, including a woven recycled newsprint cover, and they’re fully recyclable as well. PaperSpree is a Canadian company that works with their manufacturers and supply chain to be certified by SEDEX for responsible, ethical and sustainable business practices, and the Global Recycled Standard, a product standard for tracking and verifying the content of recycled materials in a final product.

HOT TAKE: It’s still nice to write things down sometimes. It can’t all be electronic. I mean, a lot of us learned cursive in school (yeah we’re old), we might as well put it to use. We wanted to find a bit of a better way to include a paper product, and when we found these beautiful notebooks from PaperSpree, and talked to Abeda, we knew we had a great match.

All-Purpose Cleaner from Filo

These all-purpose cleaning tablets are made in Canada in Quebec City, and they’re produced and sold without water or plastic. Just dissolve the tablet in a 500 ml spray bottle (you know you’ve got a couple kicking around, or buy yourself a new one to reuse over and over because you’ve earned it.)

HOT TAKE: Cleaning products are often mostly water. Well, you have water at home. So here’s the cleaning product, just mix it with your own water, and save on all the wasteful packaging and shipping that comes with traditional all-purpose cleaning products. Plus, these smell amazing - we picked up an assortment of scents and can’t decide which one we like the most.

Handkerchiefs from Oko Creations

These are great “for wiping noses, big and small,” and we’re big fans of them. They’re made in Canada, in Quebec, with unbleached, 100% organic cotton satin. Offered in one practical size, they are undyed and accented with a nice coloured trim.

HOT TAKE: It might take a bit of getting used to if you’re a big fan of paper tissues, but we think you’ll love these. They’re the right size, very comfortable to use, and they look kinda cool, too. Plus, they get more absorbent as you wash them… just remember to wash them, ok?

A couple notes on packaging:

Because there are so many of you (thank you thank you thank you), we’re now using recyclable boxes, unbranded so that you can reuse them as well if you choose. We’ll also take them back from you if that’s logistically doable and use them for a future delivery. As for the rest of it, we’ve made our own packing strips in a shredder by reusing paper and paper bags that we’ve collected, mostly from shipments we’ve received, and of course from the LCBO (their logo is green, it works). We’ve also used a form of paper tape which is a bit better than plastic, and our labels are made from recycled paper. So hey, we’re not perfect, but we’re making an effort to get better every time.

Well, there ya go, Lifestyle Box subscribers. Thanks for checking us out here, thanks for supporting our box, and thanks for just being you. You guys are our favourites.

Stay well out there, everyone, and reach out to us anytime as always.
